Global Network to Support Children with Serious Illnesses Announced in Samarkand

Carlos Rodriguez-Galindo, Vice President of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Director of St. Jude Global (USA), today announced the creation of the Global Network.

The Global Network will bring together first ladies and spouses of heads of state for international cooperation and the exchange of experience in support of children with serious and life-threatening illnesses, including cancer.

Ziroat Mirziyoyeva, First Lady of Uzbekistan, has become Chair of the Global Network for a two-year term. The ceremony marking her assumption of the chairmanship took place as part of the International Congress on Childhood Cancer.

The decision recognises Uzbekistan’s achievements in developing paediatric oncology services, as well as Ziroat Mirziyoyeva’s active and leading role in supporting children with cancer, ensuring their access to quality medical care and creating the conditions for every child to grow and develop, whatever their life circumstances.
